Flap over wedding card.

This card was made using diecut hearts and embossed backing paper. The main card is a squared gatefold, with a flap inserted inside, the top of which is also decorated. The sentiment is inserted into the main card under the flap.

Faux Picture frame card
This card was made using printed card with a satin finish. Using folds, the contrasting "borders" of the frame were made. The picture used in this card was taken from the Joanna Sheen Fashion Boutique cds and a feather and peel offs were used for embellishment.





Tulip Decoupage Card

This card was a square card base, decorated by using two complementary backing papers and a mat and layered tulip picture, decoupaged. A greeting tag was applied to the bottom right of the card and a ribbon bow was applied as an embellishment.

Welcome to Busy Bees...

Busy Bees Craft Club operate beading and cardmaking/papercraft classes. The beading classes are divided into Beginner and Advanced and are held monthly. Cardmaking and papercraft classes feature a variety of techniques, and a mixed ability class is held monthly.

Currently there is a waiting list for both beginners and advanced beading classes.

Scan n Cut group - 9th June 2018

This month we will be making a working clock using the scan n cut.  There are 2 clocks to choose from - the colours will depend on the coloured card/paper you bring with you and will be your choice.   

As a rough guide, you will need around 6 black or kraft card 12 x 12 sheets, 1 or 2 white 12 x 12 and various colours to complement the main colour.  A reasonably thick 12 x 12 decorative paper pad will be best for the patterned paper - these can be obtained at a reasonable price from the Works, the Range or from B&M.

The clock workings (including black plastic hands) and the foam board for the front of the clock will be provided for you for a small charge (around £3).   

You should bring your normal craft kit with you - ds tape, pva glue, scissors, etc.  Also, any decorative materials you want to use to decorate your clock. If you want to use the butterflies and flowers I've used on the teal clock to decorate yours, the dies and a die cutting machine  will be made available.

The flowers from the other traditional style clock are available in a scan n cut file.

SNC project April - Tissue box

The project we will be doing in April will be this tissue box cover.

I have used black and kraft card but you can use whichever card you like - it just needs to be reasonably heavy in weight.

All files will be provided to you on the day for the card elements - but you are welcome to bring any other embellishments you want to use.

You will need your scan n cut machine, and accessories, card stock (ideally 12 x 12, but A4 can work) and basic craft kit (ds or red liner tape, glue, scissors.

I have some vinyl if you want to try cutting out a sentiment or saying to go in one of the panels...

The hall has a kitchen, and tea and coffee will be provided, but you should bring a packed lunch and cold drinks if you want them.

Everyone had a good time - and we were very productive, making our tissue box covers and also having a go at the box in a card placeholders...

Decorated boxes - technique class

Our first class was held on 17th February, at the Methodist Church Hall Gidea Park between 1pm and 4 pm. 

For the first class we were decorating a box using paints, inks and stencils and stamps.

The first techniques class produced an abundance of beautifully decorated boxes!  Aren't they great?  A lot are still works in progress, as they will be decorated with additional embellishments later.

Techniques group - 9th February 2019

We will be doing 5 projects at the techniques class, all of which can be made into cards by using them as toppers.

Card 1

• Put the aperture mask onto the piece of card.
• Place the wavy line mask across the centre of the aperture.
• Place the sun in the sky where you want it to be.
• Using the inks and the daubers, colour the sky, putting some yellow around the sun and blending up to it with blue.
• Remove the sun mask and lightly colour it.
• Remove the wavy line mask and stamp your hills and trees over the edge of it.
• Using wavy line mask, create lines across the bottom half of the aperture using pale blue ink. Make sure that you ink round the bottom half of the aperture.
• Stamp tree onto right hand side and animals in centre.
• Using the clear glitter brush pen, add some “Z” strokes across the landscape.
• Remove the aperture mask and stamp the sentiment underneath the circle.

Card 2

• Stamp the jar onto the card, and also onto the yellow post it paper.
• Cut out the parts that you want to see through and put the mask over the stamped image on the card.
• Stamp the bunch of flowers and stamp it onto the card over the top of the jar, so that the stems appear to be in the water.
• Remove the mask.
• Using coloured pencils, colour in the image.
• Colour the water a very faint blue and go over with glitter brush pen.

Tag 3

• Using the distress inks, apply colour randomly to the tag.
• Spritz with water and dry.
• Using stencil, add ink where required and dry.
• Stamp leaves in greens on corners.
• Stamp writing in brown across centre.
• Make sure everything is dry, and then stamp wreath and sentiment using versamark.
• Emboss using gold powder.
• Go around the edge with gold gilding wax.

Paper 4

•  Apply a water wash with a big brush over the whole card.
• Using watercolour inks, apply colours randomly
• Spritz with water and dab with kitchen roll.
• Sprinkle brusho powders of choice onto surface of card and spritz again until effect you want is achieved.
• Make sure the card is dry and then stamp the flowers in versamark ink where required and emboss with gold powder.
• Take some ink and the pearlescent paint and using a paintbrush, splat it onto the card. Allow to dry.
• This can now be used as background paper, or can be diecut.

Card 5

• Take the yellow post it paper and tear off a strip as long as the card is wide.
• Cut it in half lengthways.
• Make sure that the straight edges are in the middle and apply across the card, leaving a stripe across the centre.
• Apply distress inks randomly and blend together.
• Dry.
• Using versamark ink, stamp butterflies randomly across the stripe.
• Using the soft brush, apply the mica powder over the top of the stamped butterflies and polish with a tissue/kitchen paper.
• Remove masks, and stamp the sentiment underneath.
