Christmas is over ... New Year soon!

The post I thought was scheduled for Christmas Day didn't actually post.  So you get this instead!

I hope all Busy Bee members enjoyed Christmas and are looking forward to 2016.  I will be updating all the class dates shortly, and will also be uploading a picture of the new project the carders will be doing in January with Brenda...

Happy New Year everyone!

November .... and a December class for the cardmakers!

In November Jackie will be showing us how to make a desk calendar that can be given as a gift, and which will fold flat to be posted in a 6" x 4" box envelope.  Only a large stamp needed!

You will need basic equipment for this one - scissors and glue.  All materials will be provided.

A note for your diaries.... For the first time, the cardmakers will have a class in December - Saturday 12th.

This will be along the lines of the Summer School and will be between 10am and 4.00 pm.  Tea and coffee will be supplied, along with some Christmassy goodies like mince pies and sausage rolls, but you will have to bring a packed lunch.

For the first half of the day, we will be sharing the hall with the beaders, but then we can spread out in the afternoon.

We have two lovely projects to do - pre booking will be required for both these items so that all the components can be made available to you.

Brenda will be be leading on a really special card for that special someone, utilising acetate and dies.

and Jackie will be leading on the making of a keepsake Christmas decoration you will bring out year after year using an MDF shape and lots of stamped and diecut poinsettias.

October already... where has this year gone?

It will be Christmas before you know it, so Brenda has done a lovely card to kick start us in the process of making our cards for her October Class.

All materials will be supplied, only your normal crafting kit need be brought...

September - a gift set

For September, the class was going to be led by Jackie, but because of time constraints for her, it will instead be led by Shirley for the first time, with Jackie's support.

We will be making a Christmas gift set based on this cute image - there will be a card, a decorated candle and a gift bag for them to go in.

Further images to follow...

August summer school - 15th August 2015

There is no class in July, but the summer school is back in August, for the whole day.

We will be working in 2 groups, one group will be doing the following projects with Brenda in the morning and freestyling with Jackie in the afternoon, and the second group will be working the other way round!

The projects that Brenda will be doing are :

Decorated gift bag

Birthday card

The intrepid freestylers working with Jackie will be creating some backgrounds using different techniques, such as enhancing plain paper with stamps and inks, using stencils, and scoring boards and will then be making a card using one of the backgrounds made.

This background has been made using brusho paints, and then overstamped with versamark inkpad and embossed with gold embossing powder.

This background has been made using brilliance ink refills on a pad made from baby wipes, and then overstamped.  The flowers on this card have been made with scrap paper....

This background has been made with plain white card scored diagonally using a hougie board and then shaded using distress ink and the card has been decorated with some die cuts.

June - a shared effort!

We had a bit of a misunderstanding in June.  We had been told that the hall was not going to be available for our cardmaking date, and although we found out at the May Class that this was not now going to be the case, the message didn't get back to Debbie and she made other arrangements for the day.

So Brenda and I will be sharing responsibilities for June and will be doing one  card each.  I will also bring some stamps and distress inks, so if there is time and people want to have a go at making a background with some stamping and distressing, they can.

My card will be a pink centre stepper using this image.

All materials will be supplied, but normal equipment (and a smallish paintbrush) will need to be brought with you.

Brenda's card is this lovely blue one - again, all materials will be provided, but normal equipment will need to be brought with you.

April Class –some parchment, some stamping..

These are the cards we are doing for April.  The class will be led by Jackie and we will be doing some faux parchment work, some stamping and distressing, and some colouring.
april 1
The first card is a monochrome one, with some parchment work background.  For this card, you will need an embossing tool and a pad (mouse mat would be fine) and a fine paintbrush.
april 2
The second card will be stamping and distressing with distress inks.  All equipment to do this will be provided.  (Some pre-stamped and distressed kits will be available for those who don’t like doing this)

The third card is an old favourite stamp – a simple exercise in colouring, using watercolour pencils.  Some will be available, but it would be helpful if you have any if you could bring them with you.  Colours may vary from the example.
If anyone doesn’t want to do one of the above cards, a limited number of a bear decoupage sheet will be available.

Ann says thank you…

Ann was very happy with the gift we gave her to let her know we are thinking of her – here is her thank you…

A reminder for January class

This is a reminder to everyone  that from January we are going to operate the same arrangements for refreshments for regular classes as we do for the summer school .

This means that while refreshments will still be provided,  we will need to bring our own mugs for our tea or coffee each time.

Thank you.
